computers are confusing [now]

Over the weekend I had this task of wanting to do a deep virus scan on my PC because it's been acting weird. (which in retrospect, I think is because my ATA drives spin down after an hour of inactivity no matter what settings I change)
Anyway, this turned out to be quite a challenge.
Just like trying to do things in python, instructions that exist are always wrong or don't apply to what you have. making a PC boot disk on a mac, that actually worked, was tough. and then it turned out that the boot disk didn't have drivers for my video card so it didn't work. etc etc.
Anyway. I finally got it done. It took 3 days. haha. But I'm posting to celebrate that. I got through the frustration wall and got it done. No serious virii. It's funny that I feel like I used to be a lot better at this stuff.. hardware, sysadmin stuff, etc. I feel like it's more challenging now than it used to be, but maybe it's some combination of having been out of the loop for so long, and getting frustrated faster.
